7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Mexico - Concordia Consultancy to Assist

21st September 2017

Central Mexico has been struck by a strong earthquake killing nearly 300 people and destroying dozens of buildings in the capital, Mexico City.

According to the US Geological Survey, the 7.1 quake struck on Tuesday 19th September at 1.15pm local time (7.15pm BST) near Atencingo in Puebla state, about 120km (75 miles) from Mexico City, with a depth of 51km, causing major damage to the capital and neighbouring states. This is following an even stronger 8.1 magnitude tremor earlier this month in the south which caused at least 90 fatalities.

Concordia continues to liaise with our Mexican Associates, who have years of South American and large claim experience.

In addition, our Compliance team are mobilised and able to assist with any post event claim support, claims review, cover holder or TPA assistance.
