Ecuador declares state of emergency following 7.8 magnitude earthquake

The epicentre was approximately 27km from Muisne. There have been approximately 230 aftershocks which has led to further damage being suffered by residents and businesses.
Ecuador’s emergency response services are in operation, with additional assistance provided by countries and organisations from around the world. Large regions of the country have seen widespread damage to infrastructure including the collapse of buildings, roads, bridges and coastal structures.
