Cyclone Debbie has battered Queensland and northern New South Wales with torrential rain up to 500mm resulting in major flooding.
Thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate, more than 2,000 schools closed and about 60,000 homes are currently without power, according to local authorities. There has also been major damage to buildings, sugar cane and tomato crops. Tourism trade has also been affected due to the excessive number of cancelled bookings.
